We are very pleased to announce the appointment of QX’s VP of Information Security, Amit Simon, to the additional role of company Data Protection Officer (DPO). With a Master’s in Information Technology and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Amit has extensive experience in driving the process excellence vision of QX through tools and frameworks like ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and Lean and Six sigma.
Amit recently passed his IBITGQ certified GDPR Practitioner examination. In his additional role, he will be responsible for reviewing QX’s regulatory compliance to ensure it is in line with the European Union’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules.
In addition to this, Amit will act as the main point of contact for the EU commission during any audits and reviews. His knowledge and experience in this area is also available for QX clients, if they need look at their current processes in preparation for GDPR.
Under the new GDPR rules, that come into effect on May 25, 2018, organisations will be held responsible for the proper handling of individuals' personal data. As QX handles data for clients in EU countries, GDPR compliance is pivotal to our business and customers.
“GDPR introduces a whole raft of new obligations. We are taking the necessary steps to ensure compliance with the new rules and regulations, which includes the appointment of a DPO within QX,” says, Amit Simon. “We have taken an inventory of our data and are implementing proper protocols to ensure QX’s compliance with all the GDPR requirements.”
